• Previous gestational diabetes pregnancies
• Previous pregnancy where the child had a high birth weight (over 9 pounds)
• Mother is overweight
• Personal or family history of type 2 diabetes
• Mother is over the age of 25
• Race- non-white mothers are more likely to have gestational diabetes
Guilt over receiving a gestational diabetes diagnosis is not necessary and it will not help you. What you need now is less stress, not more. So instead of feeling guilty and worrying, it is better to channel that energy into caring for yourself and unborn child.
